Designing wheeled sports facilities that bring a place to life

Skateparks, pumptracks, bowls and freestyle parks. Since 2018 we have guided local authorities from feasibility study to handover — without ever selling the concrete we specify.

Why an independent consultancy

We sell neither concrete nor modules

Most players in this field build what they design: their recommendation is, by its very nature, steered towards their own catalogue.

Evolving Skatepark is an independent design consultancy. We have no equipment to shift. Our only job is to define the facility that genuinely suits your area, your budget and your riders — then to oversee its construction by the most suitable contractors on the market.

That independence has a concrete consequence. Where a builder can only offer what it manufactures — concrete, or modules — we can combine both on a single facility, and add pumptrack asphalt on top. The material follows the disciplines actually practised, never the other way round.

Four disciplines, every level

For everyone. Genuinely everyone.

Skateboarding, inline, scooter, BMX: our facilities are designed for all four disciplines — not for one of them with the others as guests.

Skateboarding

An Olympic discipline. It demands perfectly smooth concrete surfaces, crisp edges and calibrated transitions.

Inline skating

Harder landings, different weight transfer. It calls for more generous curves and clear run-up areas.

Scooter

The fastest-growing discipline. Airborne above all: landing heights and shock-absorbing modules.

BMX

Greater weight and speed. It imposes specific curve radii and structural strength.

Accessibility & adaptive sport

And on request, facilities that are rideable in a wheelchair

WCMX, para-skate and para-BMX have requirements of their own. A wheelchair has neither the weight, nor the centre of gravity, nor the propulsion of a bike: designing to the letter of accessibility regulations is not enough to make a facility rideable.

With our partner MOBIL'iKi we design facilities that are genuinely rideable — and we delivered the first inclusive pumptrack in France, at Bois d'Arcy.

Every discipline has its requirements — and they contradict each other

That is exactly where design happens. A facility built around a single discipline is easier to draw; it is also empty half the time.

Holding all four together, plus the wheelchair, calls for trade-offs that only real riding experience makes possible. We ride: that is where it shows.

Which facility for your area

A skatepark is not a pumptrack

At Evolving Skatepark, each family of facility answers a different use, a different audience and a different budget. Choosing the right one from the outset avoids the classic pitfall of these projects: promising everyone something that ends up satisfying no one.

Several facilities, one single flow

Bringing these families together on one site and designing the movement between them is what turns a sports facility into a place people live in. Evolving Skatepark has designed thirteen of them.

The first question we are asked

How much does a skatepark cost?

From €150,000 for a neighbourhood pumptrack to over a million for a regional-scale complex, the range is wide — and rightly so: cost depends on the reach you are aiming for, the area, the standard of riding and the surrounding works.

We have gathered our actual ratios, the thresholds for each type of facility, and the cost items authorities most often forget. Straight to the point, with no quote attached.

Who we are

Twenty years in the federation, thirty years of riding

Before founding Evolving Skatepark, Luc Bourdin spent nearly twenty years at the French Roller Sports and Skateboarding Federation, where he created the « Optima Skatepark » service, advised several hundred towns and designed more than 40 skateparks. The regulatory and standards work he carried out for the federation still frames how these facilities are sized today.

He is the one you will have on the phone: Luc is the direct contact for authorities and clubs, from the first conversation to handover. Alongside him, Alex Sioc'han leads technical design and site supervision, and Marc Charlot handles business development and marketing.

Our partnership

Evol'iKi, the inclusive pumptrack

We cannot do everything, and we would rather say so. Instead of artificially widening our scope, we have formed a lasting partnership with Mobil'iKi, a practice of occupational therapists, to design tracks that are genuinely rideable.

Rideability is a profession in its own right

Among the very few occupational therapists specialising in the rideability of wheeled sports facilities. Assessment, inclusive design, use testing at handover.

With us, the occupational therapist does not review a drawing at the end of the process: he is there from the first sketch and rides on the earthworks. Radii, transitions, surfacing — none of it can be fixed once the concrete is poured.

Exclusive partnership on every public contract for an inclusive facility. Together we designed the first inclusive pumptrack in France, at Bois d'Arcy (78).

In motion

A drawing cannot tell you whether a track rides well

The Verdun bowl, filmed at opening by a local resident. No drawing, no render, no marketing: the facility actually being used, a few days after handover.

It is the only test that counts, and no model can take it for you.

They trusted us

In our clients' words

“This project is not just a piece of sports infrastructure: it is a lever for inclusion, a tool for social change and a strong marker of the town's strategy.

From the outset we chose to go beyond the regulations. With the expertise of Mobil'iKi and Evolving Skatepark, we worked on real rideability for everyone, including riders in wheelchairs.

Inclusion is not a slogan: it is a political choice, an investment and a method.

Let's talk

A project, a refurbishment, or simply a question?

We answer a town launching its feasibility study just as readily as an authority still weighing up whether a facility makes sense at all. The first conversation costs nothing and often clears up a great deal.
